trouble getting paid?

Written by admin on March 25th, 2010

I’ve received a few letters from readers that have let me know about a troubling trend: Contractors billing hours and incurring expenses — and then not getting paid for their work.  I’m hearing two categories:

1. The final paycheck never arrives, once they’ve rolled off the project

2. Hours are unilaterally “not approved.”

3. Same for expenses - not approved, never paid.

Have you had any recent experience with this?  Your stories much appreciated. Since you’re among friends, please feel free to share any contracting agency names. Nobody here is going to hold it against you for sharing.

I was working for Nolu Consulting here in South Africa, they did not pay my January and February 2010 salary.

Their excuse is that they havent been paid by their client. I walked out in March because I couldn’t pay my bills with their un-ending lies and promises.

I worked with SEAL Consulting Inc., they haven’t paid me 3 months salary including expenses, and i left the company. They behaved very bad with me and threatened me for leaving the company. I made lot of attempts requesting to pay my salary and remind them how hard i worked for them, by the way, i worked for 5 years as an employee in SEAL Consulting. Still they haven’t paid me, and they asked me to join their company, once i complete one year with them, they will pay that money as Bonus at the end of the year, I rejected, because i cannot work with idiots, i don’t have any words to describe them. When i was working with them, they did the same for the couple of contractors who worked through them. I request you to be aware of this company and their activities.
